RSS Feeds Sunday, July 28, 2013
George and Lori Hall's Pants on Fire registered a 1 3/4-length victory in Sunday's $200,000 Monmouth Cup (G2) to give the Eisaman Equine training grad his fourth stakes victory in his illustrious career.

Pants on Fire seized the lead entering the far turn coming up the rail from third to pass the six furlong  mark in 1:12.84.  The 5-year-old extended his lead in the stretch to get the 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.86.

"He's just a really nice horse," said winning rider Paco Lopez said. "I just tried to keep him on the outside out in the clear because he doesn't like dirt in his face, but he just kept going and trying hard to the wire."

Pants on Fire was earning his fourth career stakes victory, three of them at his Monmouth Park. Aside from his signature win in the 2011 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds, the son of Jump Start landed that season's Pegasus S. (G3) as well as the 2012 Skip Away at the Monmouth.
The dark bay has amassed $1,131,060 in earnings from his 21-7-3-4 line.
Bred by K & G Stables in Kentucky, Pants on Fire is out of the Cape Town mare Cabo de Noche, who is a half-sister to Grade 3-placed stakes scorer Hatfield and Grade 1-placed stakes heroine Key Hunter, the dam of Grade 3 winner Liquor Cabinet.
