Yes I’m Lucky kicked of a trio of stakes winners for Eisaman Equine Saturday at Laurel Park with a rousing 6 1/2-length win in the the $100,000 Laurel Futurity for 2-year-olds (VIDEO).

Chris DeCarlo was at the controls as the son of Yes It’s True completed the 5-1/2 furlong distance over the firm turf in 101.30, less than a second off the track record for the Eddie Plesa trainee.

“I watched the replays and I talked to Eddie and this was my first mount on this horse,” said DeCarlo. “Eddie always has them ready. I came here just for this race and I knew Eddie had the horse sharp. He broke fine and settled okay. He waits for competition so I just kept him comfortable. When I chirped at the 3/16ths pole he was full of run.”

Yes I’m Lucky has now won three stakes, previously taking the $57,000 Gomez Memorial at Calder and the $59,000 Tyro S. at Monmouth Park earlier this summer.

“This horse has been training very well,” said assistant trainer Gareem Nicholas. We wanted to get him back on turf. He’s got a lot of natural speed, so we expected him to be in front. The jockey rode him perfectly. This horse came back looking like he never ran. He will go to Florida for the winter. I think you will be seeing a lot of him in the future.”

Owned by Trilogy Stable & Laurie Plesa, Yes I'm Lucky is now 4-1-0 in five starts and has earned $173,000. Eisaman acquired the colt in 2012 at the Keeneland September Yearling sale for $52,000, then offered him at the OBS Select 2-year-old sale in March, where his current owners bought him for $105,000.
